Six weeks from now is my least favorite time of the year. It’s the time of year where I go to the gym and can’t find a machine to work on, a lane to swim in, or any part of the track where I can run.
The good news is; I know it’s only a short-term problem! By the end of January, all of those people who made their New Years Resolutions will have found excuses, roadblocks, and reasons not to go to the gym.
Heck, my gym actually has a Buy 11 Get One Free for this very reason! They don’t want to get their regulars upset!
What truly is disturbing is the underlying question; Why do people give up on their goals so quickly?
The main reason for giving up so quickly, is that there is no real compelling reason for them to achieve that goal. If they want to lose weight, why are they doing it? Because the Doctor may have mentioned it was a good idea, or they couldn’t fit into last Winters sweaters. Heck, find a new Doctor, and go shopping for new clothes on the way back!
These reasons are not enough. The big why hasn’t been identified, and people haven’t sold that goal to themselves. There are features and benefits to every goal, but only one or a few will be the reason we commit to making it happen.
In my Goal Setting Seminars, we teach people how to identify that BIG Why! If you are interested in getting started in a 1:1 or group session, Contact Us now, so you are ready for that line at the gym!
